Open interest in UMA — how much money sits in open futures positions on UMA and how it flows between exchanges. OI rising together with price means inflow; rising against price is a risk of reversal. The data ticks in real time across every exchange.

About UMA

UMA is a decentralized financial contracts platform built to enable Universal Market Access. The first contracts built with UMA are priceless synthetic tokens: ERC20 tokens that can track anything while minimizing the need for on-chain price data. The UMA project token powers the system in two ways: Governance: UMA token holders govern what types of contracts can access the system, which asset types are supported, and key system parameters and upgrades. Price requests: the priceless methodology minimizes on-chain price requests but doesn’t eliminate them — when contract interactions are disputed, UMA token holders fulfill price requests via the Data Verification Mechanism, or DVM.…

About UMA open interest

What does open interest in UMA show?

The total of all open futures contracts on UMA. Rising — new money is entering the market; falling — positions are being closed. A sharp jump often precedes a strong move or a squeeze.

Why watch UMA OI?

OI diverging from price signals a possible reversal; overheating (too much leverage) raises the risk of cascading liquidations. OI migrating between exchanges shows where the interest is concentrating.
