Funding on MEXC is a periodic payment between longs and shorts on a perpetual contract; by default it settles at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC. A positive rate means longs pay shorts, a negative one means the opposite. Whoever holds the position at the moment of settlement pays or receives. The payment goes between traders; MEXC takes no fee from it.
MEXC funding rate: questions and answers
How often does MEXC pay funding?
By default every 8 hours: at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC. For some pairs the timing and cycle differ, which is why rates are converted to one period for comparison: the table has “Per 8 hours”, “Per day” and “Annualized” switches.
How is the funding payment calculated on MEXC?
The payment equals the position value times the funding rate. For stablecoin-margined contracts the position value is the position size times the fair price; for coin-margined contracts it is the size in contracts times the contract value divided by the fair price. A positive rate means longs pay; a negative one means shorts pay.
Who gets the funding money on MEXC, and do I need an open position?
Traders: whoever holds a position at the moment of settlement pays or receives. Close the position before settlement and you pay and receive nothing. MEXC takes no fee on funding payments. Settlement is processed in a batch and can shift by up to 15 seconds, so positions opened right after the settlement moment may still be included.
Where do I see the rate and the time to settlement on MEXC?
On each pair’s futures page: the current rate and the time left in the cycle. Here all MEXC coins sit in one table next to other exchanges, so you can see where the rate is above or below the market.
Why do some coins on MEXC pay funding more often than every 8 hours?
MEXC can change the settlement frequency for individual pairs, especially in high volatility, and announces such changes. In our table many MEXC coins settle every 4 hours. The rate per settlement is scaled to the interval, so rates of different coins are compared in one measure — per 8 hours or per day: the table has those switches.
How do I get an alert when the MEXC funding rate rises?
In the QuickRadar builder pick the “Funding rate” condition, the MEXC exchange, a coin and a threshold — the message arrives in Telegram as soon as the rate crosses it.
